Azumanga Daioh is a manga series by Kiyohiko Azuma that ran from 1999 to 2002 in Dengeki Daioh magazine. It was adapted into an anime by J.C. Staff in 2002 and licensed in North America and dubbed in English by ADV in 2003. It follows the daily lives of a group of schoolgirls, and is one of the earliest examples of moe anime.

Azumanga Daioh is about high school life through the eyes of six girls with unusual personalities: Chiyo (the 10-year-old genius), Osaka (the resident airhead), Sakaki (the shy one prone to cat bites), Tomo (the loose cannon), Yomi (the short-tempered one) and Kagura (the resident jock).
